Most of the Carpenters are of a quiet, unassuming, uncomplaining disposition - always ready to support any good work.

Interesting to note a common virtue among the men in the family - always showing kindness and thoughtful concern to their companions and children.

Ora Carpenter Omerza journal, May 9, 1982

9 May 1982

Today is Dad’s birthday. He would have been 96. Today also is Mother’s Day. Jay and Marlene invited me to spend the day with them. I enjoyed attending church with them and after church Marlene’s parents came and we had a nice dinner. Ted and Nancy came to Jay’s to visit with me for awhile and brought a lovely gift.

Madge and her family came to see me on Saturday afternoon and brought a beautiful flower arrangement. It was so good to have them come.

After I got home Sunday evening Afton and Lorna came and spent the evening. It was a good day and I felt honored as a mother. I have three wonderful children and they all have wonderful mates. My grandchildren all paid me honor also.
