The past week has been a busy one sewing and working in the yard. On Friday I went to Mesa and gave Madge a permanent. We had a good visit together. I visited with Marlene and children. Nikki has been accepted in the honor society of her school. She had the highest grade average in her school for the semester. I’m so proud of her.
Then I went to see Ted and Nancy and they were just ready to eat supper so they invited me to eat with them which I did. I enjoyed it so much.
Today is Sunday. Vincent Trim reported his mission in Sacrament meeting. It was very interesting. He filled his mission in Belgium.

Florence and Joe, Ivan and Hazel, Bertha and Afton came over in the evening to discuss plans for our Carpenter reunion to be held in Utah this year. We all plan on going in Joe’s motor home. I think it will be fun. I hope we will all be able to go.

Today is Afton’s birthday. He is sixty so we have to give him a bad time about getting old.
Bertha is in Mesa and will come over tomorrow.

Today Bertha and I attended the evening session of our Stake Conference. Apostle David B. Haight was our visitor. We haven’t had a General Authority for some time so it was a real treat. I enjoyed his talk.

Bertha and I attended our Stake Conference. Elder Haight spoke again. I enjoyed the conference very much. In the evening we went to Afton’s. Lorna had a get-together for his birthday. It was a surprise to him but he was very pleased as he always makes anyone who comes feel so welcome. Bertha and I took him an old cane just for a fun gift. When we got there we found Lorna had collected quite a few joke gifts just because he was 60. A reading magnifying glass, a simulated pace maker, and some others, so our cane fit in just fine. Some friends of Lisa’s came with a singing telegram. It was words Lorna had written set to music. It was fun. They served us a buffet supper with birthday cake and ice cream., It was so much fun being with my brothers and sisters.

Bertha left for home today. Afton and Ivan were going to Thatcher also to spend a week.
In the afternoon I went to Mesa to attend the piano recital of Glen and Melissa, and also later on in the evening the violin recital of Glenn’s. Eldon’s piano recital was the same evening. Glenn should have been playing violin in the school orchestra that evening but had to miss that. Just too many things at the same time. I was very pleased with Glenn and Melissa. They played very well. Glenn played one of his own compositions. I spent the night with Madge and enjoyed being with their family.

Today John and Madge took me to see some houses for sale. I guess the time has come to put my house up for sale and to buy another. We looked at several places. They were all too expensive for me and really not quite what I wanted. After looking at the houses John treated us to lunch. I went from there over to Nancy’s and gave her a permanent. She wasn’t feeling too well but we went ahead with the permanent.
