Most of the Carpenters are of a quiet, unassuming, uncomplaining disposition - always ready to support any good work.

Interesting to note a common virtue among the men in the family - always showing kindness and thoughtful concern to their companions and children.

Ora Carpenter Omerza journal, March 24-April 1, 1982

24 March 1982

Today is Marnee’s birthday. She is twelve years old. Just blossoming into womanhood. She is a beautiful girl.

26 March 1982

Heather is having a two year birthday today. She is so sweet and dear. I woke up to rain this morning. I had to irrigate at 8 a.m. so I donned a rain coat and hat and irrigated in the rain. In the afternoon after the rain I finished up my visiting teaching.

31 March 1982

My Grandfather Carpenter was born on this day.

This evening we held our Relief Society Birthday party. We were served a delicious dinner. Roast beef, mashed potatoes, pears, salad and cherry cobbler. After the dinner a very beautiful program was presented honoring womanhood. It consisted of slides, a narration, and songs. It was prepared and narrated by Becky Bartlett. It was a beautiful program.

1 April 1982

I went to the Library today. I have been working alone for the past month as Gladys Beals has been in California caring for her sister.

When I came home from the Library, Jay was here to make out my income tax for me. It was good to get that taken care of. Jay is so good to me. I just don’t know what I would do without his help and advice and also the help from Ted and Madge. They are all so dear to me.
