Today I went to Mesa. I picked Bertha up at Florence’s and then went to Madge’s where we all met and enjoyed the day. There was swimming and movies and good conversation. It was a very enjoyable day. It’s always good to be with my children and grandchildren. Bertha came home with me. We stopped by Florence’s to get Bertha’s things and visited with them a few minutes. It was about 8:30 when we got home.

Today is the 4th and Em’s birthday. I went to the cemetery. It always saddened me somewhat but it is peaceful there and I felt that Em is alright. Bertha went with me, early this morning and it was quiet and peaceful.
In the afternoon I gave Bertha a permanent. We spent the rest of the day at home.

This evening the children and their mates, Bertha, Florence, Joe and I met at the temple to do the work for Helen. Madge did the endowments and we had her sealed to her parents. Jay and I acting as parents and Ted and John as witnesses. Nikki had been proxy for the baptism on the second of July. It was a very spiritual experience and I was grateful for it. It was good to be in the temple with my children. It was also good to have Bertha, Florence, and Joe there. After the work in the temple we went out to eat. We had a good time just being together. Bertha stayed the night with Florence as she wanted to leave early the next morning for Thatcher. I stayed the night with Madge. They made me feel so welcome. Brent gave me his room and he had cleaned it all up especially for me.

Madge and I completed our four generation sheets and got them in the mail. I was so glad to get that done. After we finished with that I came home. Jay came for lunch. It’s always good to have him come. In the afternoon Gladys Beals and I went to visit one of the new converts in the ward.
Today is Reed’s birthday.
