Most of the Carpenters are of a quiet, unassuming, uncomplaining disposition - always ready to support any good work.

Interesting to note a common virtue among the men in the family - always showing kindness and thoughtful concern to their companions and children.

Ora Carpenter Omerza journal Nov 1-Nov 14, 1979

1 Nov 1979

Had a busy day at the Genealogical Library. More people seen to be getting interested in the work.
In the evening Nancy called and said they would like to come over and spend the evening tomorrow evening.

2 Nov 1979

We awoke early. While Em was washing his face his nose started to bleed. We were quite concerned for awhile. The blood was just gushing out. After 15 or 20 minutes it had stopped completely and hasn’t given him any more trouble today.

Ted and Nancy and the children came in the evening. We had dinner and a good visit with them. I am so grateful for them. They are concerned about the discipline of their children. They are seeking help. Because of their concern I’m sure they will develop into good parents and their children will be obedient. It was a very enjoyable evening. The children are a delight to be with.

3 Nov 1979

Went to Mesa and visited with the children while at Madges we learned that Brent and Eldon had an accident on Brent’s bike. Brent went head first over the handle bars. His face was pretty scratched up. Eldon has a scratch on his arm. This happened two days before so they were ok today. Madge is expecting a new little one in April.

6 Nov 1979

Went to the Temple today. Afterward I went to Madge’s and gave her a permanent. We had a nice visit together. After I came home, Em and I went to vote. It was a city election. One of the issues was the Papago Freeway or the Grid Plan. We voted for the Papago.

10 Nov

Went to Mesa to visit the kids. It’s always good to be with them. Madge showed us her garden. She has quite a successful garden.

12 Nov

Madge and her children surprised us with a visit. The children were out of school today for Veteran’s Day. It was so much fun to have them here for the day.

13 Nov

Fern Ruiz and I went visiting teaching this morning. We found four home. We’ll have to visit the others later. Fern skinned her leg. It looked bad but she said it was getting along ok.

14 Nov

Relief Society today. We talked about getting old. Great subject.
