Most of the Carpenters are of a quiet, unassuming, uncomplaining disposition - always ready to support any good work.

Interesting to note a common virtue among the men in the family - always showing kindness and thoughtful concern to their companions and children.

Ora Carpenter Omerza journal 15 Nov-22 Nov 1979

15 Nov

Stake Genealogical Library day. We had a few patrons today.

16 Nov

In the afternoon I went to the church to help measure ingredients for the Date pudding they were going to make on Saturday.

17 Nov

Went to Mesa again. Took a gift to Eldon for his birthday which is Tuesday the 20th.

18 Nov

What a surprise. Ted called to say he had been called to be the Executive Secretary in his ward. We are very proud of him. He has been very faithful in his church duties since his marriage.

Jay called in the afternoon to make plans for Thanksgiving. Madge and John will go to the Thomas’. Ted and Nancy to the Knapple’s. We will be with Jay and Marlene.

22 Nov 1979

Thanksgiving Day.

We went to Jay and Marlene’s for dinner today. I enjoy being with them so much. Marlene always makes me feel so welcome we had a delicious dinner. Turkey and all that goes with it. Nikki and Marnee helped with the preparations. Jason and Marnee made the pumpkin pie. It was delicious. After everyone was stuffed we went in the living room and Marlene played the piano for us. Then she played and the girls sang. They are all so musically talented. I feel overwhelmed at times just thinking “these are my children”. It was a joy being in their home.

Jay fixed the rattle in my car. Jason and Stefani played the piano for us. I have so much to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving Day.
