10 May 1980
Today I attended a funeral of Nina Chesley and her son John. It has been a sad week.
In the evening Madge and family came and brought a beautiful plant for Mother’s day. We enjoyed having them here so much. They have a wonderful family. We had ice cream cones. It was a very pleasant evening. The plant is just beautiful. I hope I can keep it that way.

Today is Mother’ s Day. I always feel so undeserving of all the praise they give Mothers. I guess many mothers measure up but the older I get the more mistakes I see that I made in teaching my children. However despite my mistakes we have three of the best. Ted and Nancy and children came in the evening and visited and later Jay called. We had visited with them on Saturday.
Ted and Nancy brought a gift, perfumed soaps. Em gave me a nice card and a necklace and Bertha sent a lovely card.

Today Em went to the Doctor. He says the Hernia he has had for several months should be taken care of. I’ve been having stomach flu and feel rotten.
14 May 1980
Made an appointment for Em to go into the Hospital on Monday.
17 May 1980
Went to Mesa today to visit the children. It’s always good to see them and their families.
18 May 1980
Today is Sunday. I awoke early this morning and as I was thinking about the day and the problems facing us tomorrow with Em going in the Hospital I felt I should fast. I went to my meetings. They were all good. I came home and spent a little time in prayer and meditation. Em called Jay and Ted and they came over and administered to him. I asked for a blessing and Ted gave me a most wonderful blessing. I feel so calm and confident that all will go well tomorrow and throughout the operation. I am so proud and grateful for my sons. What a strength and power the priesthood holds. How wonderful it is to be a member of the church and have the priesthood to bless and help us in time of trial and stress. I wish there was some way I could express to my boys the love and joy I feel being in their presence.
