Most of the Carpenters are of a quiet, unassuming, uncomplaining disposition - always ready to support any good work.

Interesting to note a common virtue among the men in the family - always showing kindness and thoughtful concern to their companions and children.

24 Nov 1979

We went to Mesa today for a short visit. Bertha came over in the afternoon. She had Thanksgiving dinner with Larry and Carol at one of Carol’s Aunts. She stayed for a weeks visit. We had a good visit. She hadn’t been here since August.

25 Nov 1979

Went to church and had a good visit with Bertha.

26 Nov 1979

Gave Bertha a permanent today. We didn’t do much else but wash clothes and talk.

27 Nov 1979

Bertha and I went to the Temple today. We were asked to do initiatory work. We enjoyed our work in the Temple. Afterward we went to see Madge then we did a little shopping and came home.

28 Nov 1979

Bertha left for home today. I enjoyed her visit to much. It was so good to have her here for awhile.

After Bertha left. I went to Relief Society. After the meeting the Relief Society chorus practiced Christmas songs for Sacrament meeting on the 16th of December.

In the afternoon I helped measure ingredients for making date pudding the next day. The pudding is canned and sold to make money for the ward budget. It sells for $1.50 a can.

29 Nov 1979

Went to the Library today. In the evening we went to the church to see the special film “Windows of Heaven.” It’s a film on tithing. Although I had seen it before I gained a lot from it. Faith and obedience are the strong points.
