Went to Mesa today. I gave Madge a permanent. We enjoyed a good visit. John and Eldon had gone on an overnight scout hike. We stopped by to see Ted and Nancy on the way home. They had had a family picture taken and gave us one. It’s beautiful. Jeremy’s first family picture.

Today was our Stake Conference. We didn’t go. It’s the first Stake Conference I have missed in years. The river is still running and the traffic heavy. Em can’t sit for two hours. He suffers so much from arthritis. There isn’t much he can do anymore so the days seem long to him.

Today was a special day in my life. We went to Thatcher to Aunt Ella’s funeral. It was a beautiful service. Her life story was given by her nephew Kenyon Udall. The sermon was given by her son Ewart. What a tribute he paid to his mother. It was so fitting. In both talks there was both humor and pathos. I felt Aunt Ella was right there proud of her family and giving her approval of what was being said. Aunt Ella was very special in my life. She was a great lady.
When Bertha called, telling me of her death, I felt I just had to go to the funeral but it seemed almost impossible because of Em’s health. I wasn’t sure he could make the trip, but he also felt an urgency to go and said he could do it. Jay stopped by and said he was free on Saturday (the day of the funeral) and would be glad to go and drive for us. It was a beautiful spring day. We enjoyed the drive over and having a day with our son. Em stood the trip very well. We appreciated so much being with our families. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for his kindness and patience with me. My faith has been strengthened this day.
